This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies the ELIA website uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide statistical information about how visitors use a site. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage and pixel tags.
2. Cookies we use
We classify our cookies into two groups: necessary (always active, no consent needed) and analytics (only with your consent).
Necessary
- Cookie consent — stored in
localStorageaselia.consent.v1. Remembers your cookie choice so we don't ask you again on every visit. Stored for 12 months.
These are strictly necessary for the website to function. They do not require consent under Croatian implementation of the EU ePrivacy Directive.
Analytics — only with your consent
- Google Analytics 4 (
_ga,_ga_<ID>) — set by Google to collect anonymised statistics about how visitors use the site. We use IP anonymisation. Set for 13 months.
We will only set these cookies if you click "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner. If you decline (or close the banner without choosing), no analytics cookies will be set.
Before you make a choice, we use Google Consent Mode: Google Analytics is loaded but kept in a restricted, cookieless state. In this state it sends only anonymous, aggregated measurement data (such as an approximate page view) — it does not store cookies on your device or identify you individually. Full analytics, including the cookies listed above, is activated only after you click "Accept analytics".
3. We do NOT use…
- Advertising or marketing cookies
- Third-party tracking pixels (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Profiling or behavioural targeting
- Affiliate tracking
- Session replay or heatmap tools
4. How to manage your choice
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page on this website.
You can also block or delete cookies directly in your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to see, delete or block cookies. Helpful guides: Chrome · Firefox · Safari · Edge.
5. Third-party services
Some pages load resources or embed a form from external services:
- Mailchimp — the newsletter sign-up form is provided by Mailchimp. If you interact with it, Mailchimp may set its own cookies and process your data, which may be transferred to the United States. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- Self-hosted fonts — the Fraunces and Inter typefaces are served from our own server (no third-party font request).
- Front-end libraries — small CSS/JavaScript libraries used for layout and the interactive map are loaded to render the site; they do not set cookies.
Other than Mailchimp (above, only if you use the newsletter form), these services do not set cookies on this site.
6. Changes to this policy
If we add new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we will update this page and ask for your consent again where required.
