This Privacy Policy explains how the ELIA project ("ELIA", "we", "our") collects, uses and protects personal data when you visit this website or interact with us. ELIA is an Erasmus+ Centre of Vocational Excellence (Grant Agreement 101260687) coordinated by Epimelitirio Chalkidiki and operated by 21 partner organisations across seven countries.

Konistra is the partner responsible for the project's communication, dissemination and exploitation activities (Work Package 7), and operates this website on behalf of the ELIA consortium.
2. What data we collect — and what we don't
We have built this website to collect as little personal data as possible.
Data we never collect without your action
- We do not require you to register or log in.
- We do not run advertising or profiling cookies. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) are only loaded after explicit user consent — see our Cookie Policy for details.
- We do not sell or share data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Data we collect when you choose to give it
- Contact form: name, email address, organisation, country and the content of your message — used only to reply to your enquiry.
- Newsletter: email address (and optionally name and country) — used only to send you project updates. The newsletter is delivered through Mailchimp (see section 5).
Data collected automatically
- Server logs: our hosting provider may briefly retain access logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested page) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. These logs are not used for analytics.
- Analytics: before you make a choice, Google Analytics 4 runs in a restricted, cookieless state (Google Consent Mode) and sends only anonymous, aggregated measurement data — no cookies and no individual identification. If you then accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 collects pseudonymous data about your visit (pages viewed, country, device type) with IP anonymisation enabled. 3. Legal basis for processing
We rely on the following legal bases under Article 6(1) of the GDPR:
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for analytics cookies and the newsletter.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for replying to enquiries you send us via the contact form, and for keeping the website secure and operational.
- Public task (Art. 6(1)(e)) — for fulfilling our obligations as an EU-funded project, including disseminating project results.
4. How long we keep your data
- Contact form messages: kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry, then deleted within 12 months.
- Newsletter: kept until you unsubscribe (every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link).
- Analytics data: retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, then automatically deleted.
- Server logs: kept for up to 30 days by our hosting provider.
5. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with carefully selected processors strictly necessary to operate the website:
- SiteGround Hosting EOOD (Sofia, Bulgaria) — website hosting.
- The Rocket Science Group LLC (Mailchimp) — newsletter sign-up and delivery, only if you subscribe. Data may be transferred to the United States under EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Google LLC — Google Analytics, only if you grant consent. Data may be transferred to the United States under EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
For ELIA project-related correspondence, your message may be forwarded to the partner best placed to reply (e.g. the coordinator or a national contact point). All partners are bound by the project's Consortium Agreement and the GDPR.
6. International transfers
Most of our processing takes place within the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred outside the EEA (e.g. to Google Analytics and Mailchimp in the United States), we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and additional safeguards.
7. Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate data;
- Request deletion ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to processing;
- Data portability;
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the legal basis;
- Lodge a complaint with the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP) or with the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

8. Security
We host this website on secure servers with HTTPS encryption enforced. We apply industry-standard security headers and keep our software up to date. No internet transmission is 100% secure, but we use proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect your data.
9. Children
This website is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the project evolves or as legal requirements change. The version date at the top of the page indicates the latest revision. Substantial changes will be announced on the website.
